What Are Mini Sessions?
I've recently started offering mini sessions in the Bay Area - but not everyone is familiar with them!
Mini sessions are short, focused photo shoots that typically last 10-20 minutes. They usually take place at a single thoughtfully pre-selected location on a select date. They are ideal for updating family photos, holiday cards, pregnancy announcements, or just documenting this season of your life. It also makes for such a cute date idea - I recently held mini sessions on Valentine's Day at Golden Gate Park and it was so romantic seeing all the couples who wanted their love documented!
The goal is to provide a quick, affordable way to get professional photos without the time and cost commitment of a full session. It's the perfect "taste" of a session with me, especially if you want to book a longer session with me later down the road.

Who Benefits Most from Mini Sessions?
Mini sessions work well for certain clients and situations. Here are some examples:
Busy Families
Families with young children often find mini sessions ideal. Young kids have short attention spans, so a brief session reduces stress and keeps kids engaged.
First-Time Clients
If you’re unsure about booking a full session, mini sessions offer a low-risk way to try professional photography and see the my style.
Gift Givers
Mini sessions are great for creating quick, meaningful gifts like holiday cards, birthday presents, or announcements.
Budget-Conscious Clients
Mini sessions usually cost less than full sessions, making professional photos accessible for those on a budget.

What to Expect During a Mini Session
Understanding the typical flow of a mini session helps set realistic expectations:
Easy booking process:
Mini sessions are straightforward and uncomplicated. All the preparations are already done. Once my mini sessions are live on my website, simply go online, a timeslot, and make the payment, and you're all set. No back-and-forth emails, no complex planning. Just simple, nearly stress-free booking!
Time Limit
Sessions usually last 10-20 minutes. This means limited backdrops but plenty of time for different poses and combinations of people. Since the session is pretty quick, timeliness is incredible important. I recommend that my clients get there at least 15 minutes in advance so we maximize on photo time. When your session starts, we keep our intro quick and we jump right into it. If it is your first time ever in front of the camera, do not worry one bit! Most of my clients have never been professionally photographed in. their life. I will ensure that you feel comfortable in no time, doing a mix of candid and posed shots.
Location
I often choose a single location, such as a park not too far from a parking lot, to keep the session efficient.
Number of Photos
You can expect fewer final images, often between 8 and 15 edited photos. When the gallery is delivered you will be able to see all the photos taken and select the photos you love the most. You can purchase the additional images, or the entire gallery for a discounted price if you end up liking more!
Scheduling
Mini sessions are often scheduled in blocks on specific days, so flexibility is limited.
Pricing
Lower than full sessions, but includes add-on options for extra prints or digital files. If you know you are someone who will want every photo in the gallery, it might make more financial sense to book a 1 hour session with me (The Signature).

Tips for Making the Most of a Mini Session
If you decide to book a mini session, these tips help maximize your experience:
Prepare for your session by choosing coordinated outfits that don't need changes and keeping accessories simple. Arrive on time, as sessions have tight schedules, ensuring you get the full experience. Communicate your goals and preferences with your photographer beforehand to aid in planning. To keep kids engaged, bring snacks or toys for their happiness and cooperation. Focus on connection, as natural interactions often yield the best photos in short sessions.
When to Choose a Full Session Instead
Mini sessions are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Consider a full session if:
You want a wide variety of poses, locations, and outfits.
You have a large family or group needing more time.
You want professional photos for a special event like a wedding or milestone birthday.
You prefer a relaxed pace without time pressure.
You want a large number of edited images for prints or albums.
